Shetland: Holyrood 2026

The race for the most northerly constituency. It's a fascinating time to be in Shetland with debate about the future of North Sea oil and renewables, an emerging space industry, fishing and tourism, but also concerns about fuel poverty and the cost of living.

The eight candidates for Shetland were: Douglas Barnett (Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party), John Erskine (Scottish Labour), Hannah Mary Goodlad (SNP), Brian Nugent (Alliance to Liberate Scotland and Sovereignty), Peter Tait (Independent), Alex Armitage (Scottish Green Party), Vic Currie (Reform UK) and Emma Macdonald (Scottish Liberal Democrats).
